We talked with Dave Marrett, a recent Mobile Plant Upskill Employee about his experience with the Program.
Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Dave, I’m a plant mechanic working on heavy machinery at several sites around the valley for Titan Technicians.
What is the best thing about being a Plant Mechanic?
Working with a variety of personalities, age groups and skill levels, who all take safety seriously and learn from each other.
How was the onboarding process?
It was very organised and easy, I had the correct Trade but no mine site experience and usually it is hard for anyone to give you a go. Titan worked with me and created a tailored training plan. They kept in touch with me and once the position became available, I was walked through all the start-up requirements such as training and inductions needed to work on site.
What’s it like working for Titan?
There’s a team spirit among Titan workers, they always have a goal-based mindset and everyone I’ve dealt with offers insight, mentoring and advice. You feel like you are part of the Titan team regardless of what site you are working at, There’s always someone there to work with, or support you.
What did your Upskilling Process involve?
It was an evidence-based competency program. Liaising with Titan staff and workshop supervisors to fulfill tasks specific to open cut machine maintenance. I Gained a lot of experience in servicing, repairs and diagnostics while getting me in check with site safety procedures and policies.
What would you say to prospective people thinking about working for titan?
Go for it. You’re looking at working with a local company with many years’ experience in this field. There’s Always a positive approach to work and opportunities to grow. I am very appreciative of the opportunity given to me.
